"My favorite memories have to be the ones where I sneaked away from the herd and explored the nearby surroundings. I can tell you a story of that if you'd like. It goes something like this:"

The dark cover of the night was the perfect opportunity for the adventurous colt to venture off on his own. This strange world had a lot to offer for anyone who wanted to look, and Leif was definitely one to go on the search for anything interesting. Plus, his parents were sound asleep, so it'd be easier to sneak away now in the darkness than wait for the sunlight to come. Leif scrambled to his hooves, and his legs shook lightly underneath him from the long period of time he had been sleeping on them. The grey spotted colt yawned quietly, stretching out his muscles. His blue eyes sparkled mischievously in the night. One, two... He counted down in his head. Before he could make it any further, the foal bounded off through the tall grass.

Using the abundance of high vegetation as a cover, Leif stalked past the guards that stood around the herd. They were pretty simple to get around, especially this late at night when most of them were super sleepy anyways. He darted toward the cover of the tree line once he was a safe distance from being spotted. A giggle escaped him as his lanky legs carried him through the darkness that shrouded the forest around him. His eyes scanned the area carefully, looking for anything that might be of interest. Excitement and a sense of adventure drove him onwards, pushing him to venture further and further into the dark woods. His short, curly mane bounced lightly with each giddy step he took. His parents had warned him not to go too far away from either of them, but being stuck within the limits of the herd was painfully boring, and he'd much rather go out and see what he could find. He was a big boy after all and could hold his own against whatever dangers there might be... at least that's what he believed.

Leif walked through the woods, weaving between the tree trunks. He stopped abruptly at the sight of something spark beside him. He jumped quickly to the side. His eyes widening in surprise. The bright spark shone again this time a little further away, and then there was another and another! Soon the entire forest was illuminated by balls of light. Leif walked forward, mystified by this new find. A spark of light drifted toward him, blinking on and off like lightning in the sky on stormy days. As the ball of light sparked in front of his eyes and dimmed once more, Leif's brows narrowed at the sight in front of him. It was... a bug? He watched the bug flutter higher and higher into the night, lighting the path it took with the end of its tail. "Wow." Leif said with a toothy smile. His friends wouldn't believe this when he got to tell them the next day. Leif hopped forward, chasing after the bugs with lightning tails. Maybe he'd be able to catch one and show everyone.

Okay, I've been working on this for like two weeks on and off, and I finally finished it today. XD I'm not really sure if I really like it though, but I figured I share it with you all anyways. ^-^
